“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.  Don’t be trapped by dogma–which is living with the results of other people’s thinking.  Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.  They somehow already know what you truly want to become.  Everything else is secondary.”

— Steve Jobs (2/24/1955 – 10/5/ 2011)

Teaching myself how to play ‘Sparks’ by Coldplay.  This is going to be the first song that I truly attempt to sing along to while playing.   I tried it with ‘Outside’ by Staind a while back and I was fairly certain my brain had melted.  I just started learning how to play not too long ago.  Picking up this instrument has made me develop a whole new appreciation for musicians and what they do.  It truly is amazing.

Allowing yourself to be jaded is giving long term power and importance to the very person you decided was no longer worth your time.

Life and failed relationships happen to all of us. Take time to grieve and experience the pain. Take time to be upset and even to be angry. But ultimately it comes down to this: get over it. Or be content with a life containing only a small fraction of the happiness you could experience once you decide to truly move on.

Why do so many people believe that, after spending the first portion of our lives growing and learning and molding ourselves, we suddenly become unable to do so? What is this arbitrary “stop the growth” age based on? Is it mentioned in your religious doctrine? Did you read it a science book?

We all can make a choice. Either choose to believe in the arbitrary Age of Static and be (un)happy with the life that follows; or choose to believe you are never above growth, never above learning, and never above molding and shaping the person you are.

Whatever you choose to think, know this: your brain is not interested in proving itself wrong.
